Department store chain Kohl's didn't just stumble into the land of awkward parodies. Oh no — someone in that company's advertising department woke up, browsed through YouTube, selected the most ridiculous video he or she could find, and created a commercial to parody it.
Oh yes. That means exactly what you think it means.
There is now a Rebecca Black-inspired Black Friday commercial. And it's as — ahem — special as the original viral sensation, the one which racked up 167 million views before temporarily disappearing from YouTube.
Curious? Eager to torture yourself with an ear worm? Great! Here's the parody video:

I hate the fact that major retailers are opening their doors at midnight. All it does is perpetuate consumer greed. What's even worse is the "Black Friday" commercial by Kohl's. The "consumer" depicted in this ad is rude, steals an item from another persons cart, and cuts in line. Really? Is this how Kohl's wants to be represented. Even if I had the money I wouldn't shop at any of the major retailers on black Friday. If retailers can slash their prices as drastically as their going to, and still make money, just think how much money they make off of you the consumer during the other 11 months of the year!!! Boycott Black Friday, and shop small!!!
Michelle maybe you have money to burn, but for those of us with a family on a budget, if we can get things we need for a fraction of the regular price on black friday, we're going to do it. If by "shop small" you mean shop at stores with limited inventory and higher prices than big name stores, then no, I'm not going to. I can't afford to.
On the topic of this ad itself, they should be very proud: they took an awful song and somehow made it infinitely worse.
Kohl's is quickly going from a store I liked to shop at to one that I want to avoid. The marketing of Jennifer Lopez and Mark Anthony lines of clothing are enough to gag me. Five years ago I found clothes there I wanted to buy. Now I'm mainly finding stuff I wouldn't be caught dead in.
And I will never take part in any of the Black Friday shopping. Nothing destroys the spirit of Christmas faster than mobs of materialistic shoppers scrambling for products at odd hours of the night and morning.
If the only way I can afford a bunch of gifts is to be part of Black Friday then I have set my spending and gift giving sights too high and need to step back and think about what the season is really supposed to be about.
The Christmas I felt the best about what gifts I gave was when I was in college and had little money to spend. I made the gifts by hand and they had a personal touch and came from the heart. They were creative and best of all I knew that no one else anywhere had received anything like them.
What bothers me about the commercial is the sheer rudeness of the woman. Aren't the holidays supposed to be about being kind? Somehow it's funny to be mean to old ladies and steel from others cart? Good one Khol's...I will not be shopping there this holiday season.
I agree with cameron ford and what is consumer greed? I hate the way people throw the word greed around, what does it mean buying too much? who chooses how much is " too much" I am just confused. And all these people that cry about greed here and greed there do not seem to care about Christian values and morality, So i guess they think anyone can do whatever they want as long as they are not "Greedy".
Black Friday is still too expensive. Buy secondhand, invest the difference, and retire to Central America when you're 45.
WTF!!!!
some things are not funny.
and this is one of them .
if my child was in a cart and took something from someones buggy as they were passing by I not only would stop and apologize and give it back but also would lecture to my child how wrong it is to do such a thing.
what messages are we sending to the children now-a-days ?
does anyone think anymore?
